Abstract:

Currently, adaptive optics systems (AOS) used in astrophysical applications to minimize the effects of atmospheric turbulence, utilize wavefront sensors (WFS) and deformable mirrors (DM) to correct phase distortions. Methods and algorithms with a sufficiently rigorous justification have been developed for the mathematical description and computer modeling of these elements. However, the problem of coupling these elements and optimizing the “WFS sensor – DM" combination is not formalized and is empirically solved when designing each specific AOS configuration. This article presents the results of the development and testing the procedure for matching a wavefront corrector (WFC) in the form of a continuous deformable mirror (DM) with hexagonal actuator geometry and a Shack–Hartmann wavefront sensor (WFS) with rectangular subaperture geometry. The deformable mirror control algorithms were tested under laboratory conditions with an operating AOS prototype using a correlation-type WFS. Full-scale testing of the adaptive optics system at the BSVT Large Solar Telescope of the Baikal Astrophysical Observatory showed its efficiency.
