Abstract:
The paper presents a description of the first Russian spaseborne single–frequency aerosol lidar. The lidar is designed for investigating clouds and the Earth's surface and is planned to be mounted inside SPEKTR module of the MIR orbiting station. It consists of a transceiver, recording and control systems. Some aspects of the sounding data interpretation are considered.
