Abstract:

Different factors (sun elevation, total ozone, surface albedo, optical propeties of aerosols and clouds), which influence on the two types of biologically active ultraviolet irradiance (Qbio) - erythemally weighted UV irradiance (Qery) and vitamin D action spectrum weighted UV irradiance (QvitD) - were analyzed. The Qbio sensitivity to some factors is characterized by Radiation Amplification Factor (RAF). It was revealed that sun elevation and total ozone determine the strongest difference between the character of Qery and QvitD changes. The Qery and QvitD were shown to have different sensitivity character to total ozone, which depends on sun elevation. Modelling of RAF values due to aerosol and cloud optical thickness and surface albedo have shown insignificant differences between Qery and QvitD. Along with calculations of sensitivity to various factors, we also estimated the ranges of Qbio variations in different conditions, which in some cases were supported by the analysis of measurements of Qery at the Meteorological observatory of the Moscow State University.
