Abstract:

Experimental detection and study of a selective high-effective two-photon excitation channel of the Eu ion resonance states 6p7PJ and 6p9PJ from the ground state of the atom 6s8S07/2 by radiation of UV dye lasers (l1 = 265.8 nm and l2 = 256.8 nm) and the fourth harmonics of a Nd:YAG laser (lp = 266 nm) in a mixture of Eu and He vapors are reported. The population inversion and stimulated emission by transitions from the resonance 7,9PJ levels to the ground 9S04 and metastable 7,9D0J Eu ion states were brought about when radiating this system at the above wavelengths.
