Abstract:

The results of experiments on the study of the evolution of the spatial profile and frequency spectrum of sub-terawatt ultra-short Ti:Sapphere pulses, propagating along atmospheric path in self-focusing regime, are presented. The dependences of laser radiation energy characteristics in the receiving plane on its initial peak power are determined. It is found that angular size and spectral width of the laser pulse tend to increase during its output power increasing. The regularities obtained are qualitatively and quantitatively interpreted based on numerical simulations performed in the framework of the model of nonstationary self-action of ultra-short light pulse in the air. The results obtained are compared with the data of previous authors' laboratory experiments on the focused femtosecond laser radiation filamentation.
