Abstract:

The technique is developed for interpretation of the data of sensing by multi-frequency Raman lidar. The algorithm is proposed for separation of aerosol layers with different scattering properties, with subsequent estimation of the mean value of the lidar ratio and the Angstrom exponent inside a layer, which enables a minimum twice decrease of the errors in reconstruction of the backscattering coefficient from the data of daytime measurements. The stable algorithm is developed for interpretation of nighttime measurements, which lies in numerical differentiation for determination of the extinction coefficient. The algorithm is based on transform of the range of permissible values and requires solution of non-linear equations. The iteration procedure is provided for linearization, the use of which leads to increase of resolution in comparison with traditional methods. Realization of the methods under conditions of a priori uncertainty enables the use of them for processing of routine lidar measurements.
