Abstract:
We analyze, by making use of the lacunarity parameter, the errors in calculating the atmospheric transmission functions by exponential series. It is shown that these errors are determined by the first two moments of the distribution of the absorption coefficients, over the spectral range considered, and their values do not exceed 1% almost through the entire optical range. The only exception is a narrow spectral interval near the ozone absorption band at 9.6 mkm, where the error may reach 4% for some atmospheric paths.
