Abstract:

The paper describes a technique for calculating the concentration of elements in the aerosol substance, in mass units (mg/g or percentage), after analysis of elemental composition of atmospheric aerosols collected on filters having known the weight fraction of aerosol collected on a filter (the mass of the aerosol sampled). This makes it possible to compare the element concentration of atmospheric aerosols with the concentration in soil in comparable units that, in its turn, enables one to analyze and estimate individual aerosol samples and to reveal the short-duration local sources of the anthropogenic origin.
