Abstract:

The problem of the cloud fraction and cloud top height estimation making use of the radiative satellite data and cumulus convection parametrization is discussed. The proposed computing techniques allow the cloud top height, quantity of precipitation and the latent heat influxes to be calculated. Cloud fraction ad cloud top height maps, cloud fraction structure functions, and tabulated cumulus convective parameters derived by the parametrization technique are analyzed.
