Abstract:
A workable approach to the solution of the problem of determining the heterogeneous aerosol optical characteristics from multifrequency monostatic laser sounding data is reported. The procedure relies on the maximum likelihood method. A numerical simulation aimed at retrieval of the total extinction coefficient profiles for different laser wavelengths corroborated the fitness of the proposed algorithm.
