Abstract:

Intensity fluctuation for a continuous CO2-laser with a 110 m cavity were measured. The. probability of occurence of laser action was found to be related with the structural characteristic of the atmospheric refractive index and the cavity Q-factor, which allows determination of the path-averaged absorption coefficient. The minimum detectable absorption for the system of interest was 2.5 Ч10-7 cm-1. For different values of the structural characteristic laser pulse intensity was constant for all the data sets available.
