The problems are considered of interpretation of the results of the study of crystal clouds by laser sensing instruments. The parameters, characterizing orientation of cloud particles are determined, using the backscattering phase matrix elements. It is shown, how these parameters are related with the probability density of the particles distribution over the spatial orientation angle. The ten-dencies in the change of the backscattering phase matrices at variations of the zenith angle of the sensing path slope are shown on the example of the monodispersed ensemble of ice particles.
