We consider the main results, obtained at the Institute of Atmospheric Optics SB RAS in context of the problems of passive satellite sensing of the Earth’s surface. The emphasis is on results of studies, obtained during the last years and associated with the creation of programming-information means, allowing us to take into account the influence of the atmosphere on the measured characteristics of light beams with the help of satellite- or aircraft-based optical-electronic devices.
