Abstract:

Based on the rigourous solution of Schrodinger's quantum equation the evolution of the fundamental optical soliton with the Kerr type of nonlinearity is investigated. It is established that the quantum fluctuations steadily grow large over the entire path of nonlinear propagation that finally results in the annihilation of the soliton. The physical nature of this effect is clarified with the help of tetraphoton interaction model. It is shown that these effects restrict the possibility of production of the squeezed quantum states of light pulses.
