Abstract:

The efficient approach is used to calculate the phase function of randomly oriented optically "soft" inhomogeneous ellipsoidal particles. Expansion of the phase function in Legendre polynomials is derived. The method is based on the optical equivalence of randomly oriented ellipsoidal particles and polydisperse spherical particles in the Rayleigh-Gans-Debye (RGD) approximation. The results are illustrated by T-matrix, Mie and RGD computations.
