Abstract:

The paper discusses results of analysis of the kinetic energy of turbulence (En) normalized to the friction velocity in the atmospheric surface layer over an urban territory. Field measurements are used to study En dependence on the wind direction and type of stratification. Different models of En are considered and compared with experimental data. It is found that the use of En models fails to provide the proper simulation quality under the conditions that took place during the field measurements. It is supposed that for the adequate simulation of En one should take into account not only the mean wind direction and the type of current stratification, but also other wind flow characteristics.
