Abstract:

In the paper, we present the results of testbed experiment dealing with study of active effect of direct ultraviolet radiation at wavelength 308 nm on photosynthetic system of wood plants, belonging to different classification branches, by the method of laser induced fluorescence. For the study, we selected plants, namely hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) and cedar pine (Pinus sibirica), principally differing in structure of photosynthetic system and capabilities of adaptation mechanisms. We demonstrated the unconditional effect of this type of radiation on photosynthetic system and, hence, on the primary photosynthetic processes of exposed plants, with explicit manifestation of its cumulative effect. Principal differences of the fluorescent response of tested plants are primarily due to diverse levels of functioning of adaptation mechanisms of protection and recovery.
