Abstract:
The design of an optical fluorescence hydrometer and the calibraiion technique used are described. Balloon-borne data on the vertical distribution of the stratospheric water vapor mixture ratio are presented. For the 15-21 km altitude range the mixture ratio is shown to vary from 6 to 15 ppmv and increase up to 20 ppmv at 27.5 km.
