Abstract:

Self-action of a high-power partially coherent laser beam propagating through a stagnant or uniformly moving atmosphere was investigated analytically taking into account the diffraction and thermal blooming effects and the small-scale turbulence-induced fluctuations of the refractive index. The beam defocusing, laser axis deflection, and space coherence evolution were examined on the basis of a beam model comprising signal and noise parts.
