Abstract:

The relations for the polarized radiation backscattering cross sections by a round plate with a complex refractive index are derived. Cross section formulae have the form of a linear combination of scattering matrix elements. Each matrix element is a finite sum with all the summands containing diffraction integrals as cofactors. Different equations for calculating diffraction integrals are reported. The relation for the radiation extinction cross section by a round plate obtained on the basis of polarized field extinction formulae is given. Ii the final form of the above expression the diffraction and scattered field amplitudes are coherently added.
